STAR

Star, Diane's little malti-poo which we shared with her at times in the past, has very sadly been killed by a coyote a few days ago along the Coquitlam River. She will always be in our hearts. Here are some pictures of her.

As a little puppy ...

And, later ...

Ann, Tommy, Sheree and Stan

We drove Sheree to North Vancouver late last week where she was meeting Tommy and Ann for lunch. There certainly is a family resemblance there! We look forward to meeting Don and seeing Tommy and Ann again.

Cycling through Vancouver Today

We went to the Japanese Festival on our bikes and carried on from there towards the Port of Vancouver, the Cruise Ship/Convention Centre facility, along the water to Stanley Park and back home along English Bay and the False Creek seawall. Here are some of the sights.

Annual Japanese Festival in Vancouver

This is the longest running Japanese Festival in North America which takes place on the long weekend in August. It is held in Oppenheimer Park bordered on one side by Powell Street - the original Japan town before World War II. This is our second Japanese Festival this year as we attended the Santa Cruz one when we were there in June. Here are some pictures of the festivities here in Vancouver.

Change of Plans!

We are no longer driving our friend's car across Canada; they've decided to ship it by train instead to save the wear and tear on the car. Anyhow - we scrambled a bit to get a decent airfare - and we're booked to fly out of Abbotsford to Toronto on August 21st.

Lunch at Dave and Lorette's

We went to Dave and Lorette's for lunch yesterday. It was a four course meal like only Lorette (maybe Dave helped a bit...) can put together, starting with appetizers, followed by the most delicious crab and scallop bisque, then salmon fillets done in a sauce with a hint of curry surrounded by mushrooms and baby pea pods, topped off with fruit-filled crepes and ice cream for dessert. We sat on their patio for over 2 1/2 hours enjoying it all. Ah yes - and there also was South African wine.

How about that!

The exterior of our building is getting an overall cleaning. And those wild crazy jobs are not the prerogative of men only. You go girl!

New and Improved!

Here's the new and improved Sherry! She looks great and about 15 years younger.
