We stayed in Vancouver this year but pretended we were away, ie. shopping, fun and no cooking!

Carol Ship Cruise in Vancouver Harbour

We've been talking about doing this one Christmas Season for quite a few years and finally got it together. It was a lot of fun!

We were lucky to have a beautiful clear night.

An Unexpected Sight!

It is a little fuzzy - but there is a big hunking owl on that branch and he was surrounded by about a dozen squawking crows. They were really bothered with him being there but they certainly didn't seem to faze him. This was mid-afternoon in the middle of Yaletown.

Trying Out our New Toy

We had a beautiful day in Vancouver yesterday. Hard to believe we are in the middle of our usually rainy November. We took the opportunity to go around Stanley Park on our new tandem bike. We loved it!

Our 'Twice a Week' Dog Fix!

Last week, we started looking after this lovely young Golden Retriever by the name of Bear, twice a week: Tuesday and Thursday, with the occasional extra day planned at times. He is a joy and a great way to get your "dog fix"!

Halloween - High Rise Style

This is what Halloween consists of for high-rise dwellers - in our case, watching from our balcony, the gremlins and goblins parade coming out of the Roundhouse Community Centre. Saves on candy!

Kenny's Memorial Bench

This past Friday, Stan, Sheree, Paula and I spent some time at Kenny's bench. This is a bench near Port Coquitlam City Hall where Kenny used to sit. We had the bench dedicated to him and the City affixed a plaque to that effect. For some of you who may not know Kenny, he was Stan's son. He disappeared last March and his remains were found in Burnaby Marine Park in late June of this year.

Ruth's Visit

Ruth, Stan's cousin, was in town for a conference and we were able to spend most of Sunday with her. Ruth and Stan go a long way back to before the World War II internment of Japanese families when, in their case, they were taken from the Coast and moved to Alberta.

Motorcycle Mama!

Sheree is graduating to this lean, mean machine ...

Frito is a hit!

Frito - a chihuahua/shitzu cross - is the latest resident at Caberneigh Farm. He wormed his way into the girls' hearts on their visit to the cottage in Quebec and voila!

Side Gardens at the Farm

The perennial gardens around the house are starting to look very nice after much digging, weeding and transplanting.

Last Stay at the Cottage

It is Vendu! We had a lot of good times there but we're glad to be turning a new leaf.

Farewell dinner with Claude and Nicole.

Stan is very happy to leave those thorny plumbing problems behind.

Boating with Claude and Nicole

An outdoor Sunday mass in the small town a few kilometers from the cottage.

Willy's Vacation with Grandma and Grandpa

Willy loved to go swimming in the St. Laurence. If he hadn't had a leash on he would have taken off after the power boats!

Grandpa is into beer and Willy is into wine.
